iLife '08 Released

Apple receently released a new version of the iLife suite, iLife '08. All applications in the media editing suite were updated, including a completely new iMovie. This software ships free of charge on all new Mac computers and is available to existing users for around $80.

The upgrades are nice, but take far more system resources than iLife '06. This means users with computers more than a year old should definitely keep their current software unless the new features are essential. Newer computers may run the new software, but it will most likely not perform as quickly as the previous version.

Overall, iLife is designed, and performs well, as introductory software. Serious users should use specialized software since their is a lack of advanced features and conversion may prove difficult. For casual users, however, who want to quickly and easily work with media, iLife '08 is an added feature of a new Mac.
